Yale of Beaufort

T he Yale is a mysterious beast that is thought to be mythical. The Yale's origins trace back to a document authored by a Roman Emperor' entitled 'Natural History'. The author claims that the Yale was observed in modern day Ethiopia and is black or tawny coloured. The Yale's horns were documented as being able to move independently of one another which was mainly used in battle

The Yale was featured on the Royal Arms of a Duke of Bedford and more famously by the House of Beaufort. Yales still are a symbol of British history, being displayed on a Chapel in Windsor Castle and a statue is displayed outside Kew Gardens, London. The Yale is a symbol for the Yale University in Connecticut, USA. The Yale is a popular beast to signify 'proud defence'

Coin Premium

The Yale of Beaufort is a 2019 coin making it the sixth coin to be released. Premiums for the earlier coins are higher than the premium seen for the Yale, yet the Yale's modest popularity ensures its premium is above average for this series but is not considered as excessive as seen in older designs

Coin Rarity

The Yale of Beaufort is often available for sale by most reputable bullion dealers at a competitive premium. As this coin was released in 2019, the time lapse has allowed many of the Yale coins to be imported from the UK by other countries thus reducing the offering for UK Queen's Beast coin collectors

Coin Popularity

The Yale is one of the mythical beasts that are not seen in nature which ensures that this design is more popular than non-mythical designs such as the Greyhound of Richmond. Whilst the Yale is associated with the British crown, it has a much smaller presence than the Lion of England

Coin Design Rating

This design is intriguing as it captures the detail of an unfamiliar horned beast. Although lacking the presence of a roaring lion or mythical dragon, the Yale is still popular amongst investors looking for something non-standard to add to their collection
